LeSean McCoy Released

In a shocking but not surprising move, the Buffalo Bills have decided to part ways with veteran running back, LeSean McCoy. McCoy’s health and production has significantly decreased in the last few years. In 2016, Shady averaged 5.4 yards a carry, but that number would dip to 4.0 in 2017. After battling injuries that number would dip again in 2018, where he’d finish the season averaging just 3.2 yards a carry. On the wrong side of 30, the front office decided his $6.175 million salary was just too much to carry. The move will create $6.425 million in cap space.

Headed into the regular season, the Bills will look to 36-year-old Frank Gore to carry a bulk of the load. Gore is coming off a season in Miami averaging 4.6 yards a carry and will likely concede a bit of time to rookie, Devin Singletary. The Bills used the 74th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft on the young man known as “Motor” and so far, he has lived up to his name. The rookie out of Florida Atlantic has turned heads this preseason and many think he can be a three-down back sooner rather than later.
