Seattle, WA- The Seattle Seahawks are now in the playoff race sitting at the fifth position in the NFC. The Seahawks started slow in the first half of the season and now they are on the verge of getting back into the postseason.
This team is very different from the last time the Seahawks went to the playoffs in 2016. This team has an offensive line that has been blocking pretty well compared to recent years. They have given Russell Wilson time in the pocket to find receivers down the field. Wilson in the second half of the season has improved with completing over 66.6% of his passes and does not run as much as he did in the first portion of the season.
The Seahawks has finally broken their running back curse and now Chris Carson, Mike Davis, and Rashaad Penny has risen to the occasion for this team. With Carson having the majority of the snaps, it takes the pressure off of Wilson. With the running game being so productive, it gives Wilson a chance to make life a disaster for the defensive coordinator for opposing teams by utilizing play-action passes, curls, screens, and a lot of misdirection play calling.
The rising of wide receiver David Moore has helped out Doug Baldwin and Tyler Lockett with spreading the offense. Moore has the ability to be a second option receiver because his routes are very crisp when he comes out of breaks or the defense is putting a man over the top to help out on Lockett or Baldwin. Moore is very dependable and has helped out Wilson a lot this season. With a healthy running attack and game-changing playmakers, the Seahawks are quickly becoming the NFC’s favorites to go deep in the postseason.
The Seahawks’ defense is tied for 9th in the league with points allowed, which is 21.6. Bobby Wagner has been the heart and soul for this young and talented team. Before this season started Wagner said that he is taking the role of leadership and helping out his teammates. He has helped them and has become the voice of the Seahawks.
With four more games to go, it looks like the Seahawks could be the team to beat in the playoffs.
