Team Irvin Spanks Team Rice In 2016 Pro Bowl

Team Irvin took a 14-7 lead late in the first quarter and never looked back, as they collected a 49-27 victory over Team Rice at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii. This was Team Irvin’s third straight victory in the non-conferenced era—since 2013—of the Pro Bowl. Team Irvin put up 503 yards total offense in what was a showcase for the quarterbacks and receivers of that team. Every single quarterback who suited up for Team Irvin threw for over 100 yards and two or more scoring tosses.

Meanwhile, Team Rice scored first when quarterback ELI MANNING took the snap and then looked to his right where he found tight end TRAVIS KELCE (5 catches for 91 yards and 2 scores) for a 4 yard touchdown reception near the top and right back corner of the end zone. Quarterback RUSSELL WILSON (8 of 12 for 164 yards and 3 scores) connected with receiver JULIO JONES near the left corner of the end zone for a 14 yard score. With 7:59 left in the first quarter and after a failed two-point conversion pass, Team Irvin cut Team Rice’s lead to 7-6.

Team Irvin took the lead when Wilson threw his second touchdown pass, this time to running back DEVONTA FREEMAN from 6 yards out. Then on the next play, Wilson completed a back of the end two-point conversion pass to Jones. With just 3:40 left in the first quarter Team Irvin had themselves a 14-7 lead.

Early in the second quarter, Team Irvin received another score, this one from running back TODD GURLEY as the rookie took a Wilson 10 yards into the end zone after breaking a tackle by Team Rice inside linebacker BOBBY WAGNER. With 12:32 left in the second quarter Team Irvin had a 21-7 advantage. But Team Rice countered that Gurley score with a Kelce back of the end zone 10 yard touchdown reception. With just under 3:30 left in the second quarter the Team Irvin lead was cut to 21-14.

Team Irvin furthered their lead, when quarterback TEDDY BRIDGEWATER threw a 2 yard touchdown pass to running back DARREN SPROLES who caught the pass between two defenders and in the end zone. With 32 seconds remaining in the first half, Team Irvin took a 28-14 lead.

Team Rice cut into Team Irvin’s lead again, when running back DOUG MARTIN scurried forward and then he had to muscle through an attempted tackle by Team Irvin free safety HARRISON SMITH to get into the end zone. With 8:55 left in the third quarter the score moved to 28-21.

Team Irvin buffed up their lead, when Bridgewater found receiver ALLEN ROBINSON behind the Team Rice defense for a 50 yard score and an eventual 35-21 advantage with 9:58 left in the third quarter.

Team Irvin pretty much put the game away, when quarterback JAMEIS WINSTON found tight end DELANIE WALKER down the seam for an untouched and quick 53 yard touchdown play. With 1:51 left in the third quarter the Team Irvin lead ballooned to 42-21.Jameis-Winston Team Irvin receiver DEANDRE HOPKINS secured a 7 yard touchdown reception in front of Team Rice cornerback BRENT GRIMES with 7:50 left in the game. Team Irvin led 49-21 at that point.

Second-year receiver JARVIS LANDRY executed a marvelous concentration-laden reception, which included dragging his feet in bounds for a 31 yard scoring pass from quarterback TYROD TAYLOR. That score cut Team Irvin’s lead to 49-27 with 6:05 left in the game.
