The Jets have reached an agreement with WR Santonio Holmes on a new 5-year deal. The Redskins were reportedly pushing to sign the former Super Bowl MVP, but they seemed to drop out of the running after re-upping with WR Santana Moss. Getting Holmes back is huge for the Jets. They’ll likely lose WR Braylon Edwards, meaning Holmes will be a target monster this season. He was fantasy football’s 19th-best WR after returning from a 4-game suspension last year, and we’re expecting him to be even better in 2011.
Update: The deal is reportedly worth $50 million with $24 million guaranteed. That’s believed to be the 2nd-most guaranteed money ever given to a WR. The Jets are counting on big things from Holmes.
