The Bills were bought a Sony for Christmas, and more.
On the Patriots opening drive, running back Sony Michel led the way. And it seemed evident that the Patriots were going to rely heavily on their run game, with Tom Brady standing pat as the play caller.
Within their run game, it was a committee per usual. Throughout the Patriots lineup, four players rushed for over 30 yards. Two players, Cordarrelle Patterson and Michel. rushed for over 50 yards individually.
With the playoffs around the corner, the Patriots obviously opted to save Brady’s 41-year old arm for another time. And who wouldn’t against a young Bills defense that’s kept their team in games despite growing pains on the offensive side of the ball? They’ve played remarkably well, and deserve a ton of credit.
Lorenzo Alexander and Jordan Poyer both recorded one interception in the contest. Poyer also recorded Buffalo’s lone sack. Buffalo Bills captain, Kyle Williams remarked, “It comes down to execution. There’s a lot of different things that we didn’t do well enough, and they did.”
For Williams, and his 13-year history as an NFL player, this statement has been the story of most team’s life when playing against Bill Belichick and Brady.
On the offensive side of the ball, Buffalo couldn’t capitalize on the opportunities in hand. Josh Allen’s one touchdown’s to two interceptions weren’t enough, and came a little too late. Without any points in the first half, Buffalo put themselves in a tough position down 14-0 and weren’t able to climb back.
Considering where Buffalo is now, 5-10, they have to just look at their match with Miami as another opportunity to improve. Miami has nothing much to play for either, however, it’s a rivalry with long history. So why not try to spice things up going into a much anticipated offseason?
