CARDINALS K JAY FEELY NAMED NFC PLAYERS OF WEEK 15

Rookie running back EDDIE LACY of the Green Bay Packers, cornerback RICHARD SHERMAN of the Seattle Seahawks and kicker JAY FEELY of the Arizona Cardinals are the NFC Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for games played the 15th week of the 2013 season (December 12, 15-16), the NFL announced today.

 OFFENSE: RB EDDIE LACY, GREEN BAY PACKERS

  • Lacy rushed for 141 yards and scored the game-winning touchdown in the Packers’ 37-36 comeback win at Dallas. He added four catches for 30 yards and finished the game with 171 scrimmage yards.
  • Lacy’s 141 rushing yards were the most by any player in Week 15. He also had the league’s longest run of the week (60 yards) and tied for the NFL lead with five runs of 10+ yards and eight first-down runs.
  • The Packers, who trailed 26-3 at halftime, scored 34 second-half points, capped by Lacy’s one-yard touchdown run with 1:31 remaining. The 23-point comeback was tied for the largest in franchise history.
  • Since October 1, Lacy leads the NFL with 977 rushing yards.
  • Lacy has rushed for 1,028 yards and eight touchdowns and is the only rookie in franchise history to rush for at least 1,000 yards and five touchdowns.
  • In his rookie season from Alabama, this is Lacy’s first career Player of the Week Award. He was selected as the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month for October.
  • Lacy is the fourth Green Bay running back to be named Offensive Player of the Week joining AHMAN GREEN (six times), DORSEY LEVENS (Week 17, 1999) and SAMKON GADO (Week 10, 2005).
  • Lacy and SHAUN ALEXANDER are the only running backs from Alabama to be named Player of the Week.

DEFENSE: CB RICHARD SHERMAN, SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

  • Sherman had two interceptions and deflected a pass that resulted in another INT in the Seahawks’ 23-0 win at the New York Giants. He added two tackles.
  • He is tied for the NFL lead with six interceptions. Since the start of 2012, Sherman leads the NFL with 14 INTs.
  • Sherman was part of a defensive unit that had five interceptions and allowed only 181 total net yards (25 rushing, 156 passing). The Seahawks held New York’s quarterbacks to a 37.0 passer rating.
  • Sherman recorded two interceptions and helped preserve the shutout late in the fourth quarter when he deflected a pass to safety EARL THOMAS for Seattle’s fifth interception of the game.
  • The Seahawks lead the NFL in points allowed (205), interceptions (22), total defense (279.5 yards per game) and passing defense (174.2).
  • In his third year from Stanford, this is Sherman’s third career Player of the Week Award and second this season (Week 2). He was also selected as the NFC Defensive Player of the Month for September.
  • Since Week 10, 2012, he is the only player to be named Defensive Player of the Week three times.
  • He is the only Seattle cornerback to win Defensive Player of the Week three times.

SPECIAL TEAMS: K JAY FEELY, ARIZONA CARDINALS

  • Feely converted all three field-goal attempts (25, 47 and 41 yards), including the 41-yard game-winner in overtime, in the Cardinals’ 37-34 win at Tennessee.
  • He has seven career game-winning field goals in overtime, tied for the sixth-most in NFL history and two shy of the league record of nine.
  • Feely scored 13 points, converting all three field-goal attempts and four PATs. He also executed a successful pooch kickoff, which was recovered by Arizona to start the second half and led to a field goal.
  • In his 13th season from Michigan, this is Feely’s third career Player of the Week Award and first since 2010 (Week 14). He was also honored in Week 7, 2002 with Atlanta.
  • Feely and PATRICK PETERSON are the only current Cardinals to be named Special Teams Player of the Week multiple times with Arizona.
