SEATTLE — The original ‘Legion of Boom’ Seattle Seahawks secondary is now fully intact — according to a report from ESPN, cornerback Brandon Browner is returning to the Emerald City, and will sign a one-year deal with the Seahawks.
With the signing, Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor, Earl Thomas and Browner are all back together — the 31-year-old and two-time Super Bowl champion shared a picture on his Instagram account with the caption, “secret’s out.”
This marks Browner’s second tenure with the Seahawks — he departed the first time after the 2013 season, signing a three-year, $17 million contract with the New England Patriots and capturing his second Super Bowl championship in as many seasons. After the 2014 season, Browner’s option was not picked up by the Patriots, and he was signed by the New Orleans Saints.
Last season, Browner recorded 76 tackles, 10 passes defended and one interception for the Saints. Additionally, he was flagged for 24 penalties, the most by any single player since the 2001 season, according to ESPN’ Stats & Information.
However, Browner played through most of last season with a torn MCL, an injury the Seahawks firmly believe was the main contributor to his slumping statistics, according to ESPN’s report.
