Well, what can you say? Do you have to say anything, or is this something you just expect? You might ask, what am I talking about? My answer, another win.
Then you realize I am talking about Kyle Busch and just shake your head in amazement. We know Busch has won three NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races in a row and has won four out of the last five, so what race did he win now? It surely was not a foot race because we know he is not able to walk that fast still healing from his injuries suffered at Daytona International Speedway in February.
The race he won – the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Pocono Raceway on Saturday, August 1st, titled the Pocono Mountains 150. Now get this – Busch, who started second in the race, was racing in his first Camping World Truck Series race of the 2015 season. Plus, this was not a win by Busch where he just happened to have the lead when the checkered flag came out. Busch led 53 of the 69 laps in the race and held off the rest of his competitors over three attempts at a green-white-checkered flag finish, which pushed the race to 69 laps after it was only scheduled to run 60 laps.
Now for the second weekend in a row, Busch has a chance to sweep the weekend if he wins the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race tomorrow, Sunday, August 2nd. If you remember, Busch won both the NASCAR Xfinity Series race and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race last weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
So what are the odds Busch wins the Sprint Cup Series race? I would say pretty good, considering on Friday, July 30th, Busch won the Coors Light pole with a speed of 178.416 mph for the Windows 10 400 Sprint Cup Series race. Now was this a fluke? Not a chance considering in the first practice, Busch was third fastest with a speed of 175.408 mph. But, he did one better in the Happy Hour practice, where he backed his Toyota into the wall, got some repairs and came out and had the fastest speed at 175.240 mph in this practice session. Busch winning the pole was a little bit of a surprise, considering over 22 races at Pocono Raceway in which Busch has raced, this marks only his second pole, with the first coming in June of 2010.
So if you are amazed, you should be. Busch even realizes the streak he is on and is not able to explain it either
“Things are sorting out really, really well. Why they’re sorting out that way, I don’t know.”
We do not either Kyle, but do not take it for granted, which he is not.
