VIDEO The Miami Dolphins have come to terms with their seventh round draft pick, Frank Kearse. The rookie defensive tackle played football at Alabama A&M University, starting all 11 games this past season and racking up 57 tackles (14 for a loss), 1 sack, and 2 forced fumbles.
Kearse is looking forward to getting a chance to contribute to the Dolphins’ defense. “The greatest strength I bring to Miami is my ability to want to get better every play, every snap, and every practice,” he said.
Kearse has high expectations for the upcoming season, and he wants to do whatever he can to help the team. “I want to be the best person I can be both on and off the field,” he said when asked what his personal goal is for his rookie season.
We spoke with him at The Business of Football: Rookie Edition, in which rookies got a chance to work with veterans and get an education on finances among other things.
Kearse spoke about the importance of learning from the veterans, “It has been helpful because any time you get a chance to learn from somebody who’s already done what you’re trying to do in life it’s a great opportunity to learn some of the pitfalls and bumps on the road that they had.”
In addition to signing Kearse, the Dolphins have also signed FB/TE Charles Clay, a 6th round selction, and CB Jimmy Wilson, a 7th round selection. First round draft choice Mike Pouncey, center, signed with the team after missing the first two days of training camp.
