Just like the players who enter the league have to be physically fit, that rule applies to the women of the league as well. In order to maintain that NFL cheerleader physique, these women go through a pretty intensive boot camp to train and prepare them for the upcoming season and the Minnesota Viking cheerleaders have a pretty intense workout regimen aka the Marine workout.
Before these ladies even get into their actual workout they do a couple laps around the stadium to get their hearts going and joints loosened up, to get them fully warmed up. A few exercises that keep them in tip top shape are lunges, Inchworms, and Snow Angels. Each of these exercises helps increase these cheerleaders’ endurance and flexibility while they are on the sideline cheering on their team.
Dance aerobics is a very good way to keep these cheerleaders’ bodies in good healthy shape as well, and of course the power behind this is music. Music has the ability to dictate a pace, rhythm, different patterns and combination based off of the tempo and beats incorporated in a song. These particular workouts can last for about an hour to an hour and a half when you include a well mapped out cool down. Dance aerobics consists of stretching, body sculpting and, of course, dancing. If you perform this workout at least three to four times a week, you will see improvements in your body.
Dancing is not just a form of entertainment that the women of the NFL provide us with, but it is one of the ways to maintain and promote a healthy body.
Here are a few videos that showcase what these women prepare and work on, both during the season and the off season training!
