Brandon Jacobs Supporting ONE TEAM

[VIDEO] In an offseason headlined by the NFL lockout, it is important that players stick together.  Player unity is a necessity, as they all need to be on the same page through the negotiation process, something the league wasn’t counting on.  There are 32 teams that make up the league, but the NFL players have been using the phrase “ONE TEAM” to represent unity among all players and fans.

“We’re all close and we all come out and support each other,” Brandon Jacobs said at a charity event hosted by teammate Justin Tuck’s.  “That’s what it’s all about, coming out and supporting each other off the field.”

Jacobs was one of a large group of players that attended fellow New York Giant Justin Tucks’ celebrity billiard tournament in New York City, held to raise money aimed towards raising literacy in children.  Many more came out to support the cause including Mark Sanchez, Hakeen Nicks, and LaMarr Woodley, among others.

While these guys don’t all play for the same team, when put in perspective in terms of a labor dispute, they all have the same goal in mind.  Jacobs said, “At the end of the day, this is a job.  This is what we do for a living and do to take care of our families.”

Jacobs has been taking advantage of the free time provided by the lockout by doing things he wouldn’t normally be able to.  “I’ve been doing a lot of stuff on my own and spending time with my family, kids,” he said.  “It hasn’t been hard to pass the time by.”

Because the players as a whole represent an entire side of the labor dispute, it is important that they stand as one in the face of a lockout.  As a veteran player, Jacobs understands this better than most.  He may be enjoying the extra free time he has, but there is no doubt that he would like nothing more than to play a full season and get a shot to contend for another Super Bowl.
