Bills coach Rex Ryan: “Dolphins are a very talented group.”

Since 2012, when he was then with the New York Jets, Rex Ryan is 3-3 against Joe Philbin and the Miami Dolphins, which includes three straight victories at Sun Life Stadium. While Ryan is now the head coach of the Buffalo Bills, he hopes to continue his recent success at Sun Life Stadium as they will be on the road for the first time in 2015.

Miami had a lot of expectations heading into the 2015 season as the team signed Ndamukong Suh and made a lot of changes on offense. Despite the turnover to the roster, the Dolphins haven’t gotten off to the greatest of starts.

After the first two weeks, the Dolphins (1-1) defense ranks 23th overall, which includes 27th against the run. Miami’s offense hasn’t performed any better than they’re 24th in total offense.

Even with their struggles to begin the season, Ryan believes the Dolphins have a very talented roster.

“They’re a very physical football team,” said Ryan. “On defense, they are loaded and it is a talented team.”

Miami only has one sack on the season through the first two weeks and a lot of the blame has gone on Suh. Since he signed a six-year, $114 million contract, with $60 million guaranteed, a lot of the criticism has gone his way.

Ryan isn’t buying the Suh or the Dolphins defense disappointment talk.

“On tape, everyone knows where he’s (Suh) at,” said Ryan. “It is early in the season and we will see at the end of the season, but it is a very talented group.”

In the Dolphins first two games against the Washington Redskins and the Jacksonville Jaguars, both teams rushed the ball away from Suh and were able to gain yards successfully. Miami has given up an average of 142 yards per game through their first two games.

Offensive, the Dolphins haven’t been able to get their running game going either. The team ranks 30th in rushing and Lamar Miller, who gained 1099 yards a season ago, has just 67 yards on the season.

Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill has been one of the few bright spots of the Dolphins offense. He has thrown for 585 yards, three touchdowns and is completing 66.7 percent of his passes on the year.

Ryan has seen Tannehill over the last four seasons and feels like he has progressed throughout the years.

“He has that big arm and he has mobility, said Ryan. “He is a smart kid and he had a big year last year and he seems comfortable playing the position. He’s an NFL quarterback and an NFL arm. Miami knew how important he is because they signed him to the contract (six-years, $96 million) that they did.”

Miami’s offense will have a tough task trying to get back into the winner’s circle on Sunday. The Bills led the NFL in sacks a season ago (54) and they have arguably the best defensive line in the league. The Dolphins will certainly have their hands full.
