If you plan on visiting San Francisco for Super Bowl 50, or any of the activities associated with the event, you can expect to see plenty of Police presence all over the city. The reasoning behind this is obvious, in this new day and age public safety has become priority number one.
It truly seems that the San Francisco Police Department has taken every possible conceivable precaution, and they are armed to the teeth. Every bag is being searched, there are metal detectors every where, and you will see plenty of K-9 units roaming up and down the streets sniffing everything from cars to garbage cans.
The FBI and other Government Agencies are also present, and the NFL has done it’s due diligence as well ramping up on security inside and out. This is all an impressive and well designed coordinated effort to make sure things go well as “Super Bowl City” gets into full swing.
The NFL Experience itself is bigger then ever. You can run the 40 yard dash, kick field goals, take pictures with Lombardi trophies and Super Bowl rings from your favorite teams. This country loves it’s football and thousands of fans will spend millions of dollars this week to be apart of America’s new favorite pastime. But you should account for some extra time being spent in the lines, entrances, and check points, and you should also consider this as time well spent.
The world is a different place these days with terrorism spanning the globe, but to be honest, San Francisco feels pretty safe right now. You will see dozens of Officers on every street, and there will be even more that you probably will not see. The city is paying some serious overtime when it comes to keeping us as fans, and the local residents safe.
So be patient and be thankful if you make your way to the City by the Bay this week. It is still an incredible experience for everybody, young and old alike. Just remember to be aware of your surroundings and also to be appreciative to the men and women in Blue, as they are only there to make sure you get home safely.
