Things just did not go as planned in Denver on Sunday. I don’t know if it was all the attention, or if it was just a bad day, or if it was the Kansas City Chiefs simply playing some solid football.
The stage was set, the weather was right, and tons of media made their way to witness Peyton Manning break the all time passing yards record held by Brett Favre. The referees were even notified to stop the game when this historic history happened. Well, after all was said and done, let’s just say it’s a good thing that Peyton only needed 3 yards to do so.
Look, I get it. Bad games happen and they happen to everyone. And I understand that no one is going to remember Peyton for throwing 4 interceptions and only completing 5 passes in a single game. They will remember him for what he is, he is undoubtedly one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.
You have to take the good with the bad, nobodies perfect, mama said there would be days like this… I could go on and on but honestly I’m not too worried about Peyton Manning, aka “The GOAT.”
A lot of quarterbacks would take a lot of heat for only having 35 yards in a game and then being benched (in the 3rd quarter) with no injury to speak of. But you can’t do that with Peyton Manning, even when he throws more picks than Papa Johns has toppings in said game.
When you’ve thrown more yards than everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY, in the history of the League, you are guaranteed a bronze bust signifying how truly great you played the game. When your little brother tries to taunt you with his “2″ superbowl rings, you get to use phrases like “all time” and “most ever” to shut him up.
Much respect to the King of Omaha.
Peyton Manning, the only quarterback in the League who should also be getting a second paycheck each week as an offensive coordinator. Denver is still in the driver’s seat when it comes to the AFC West so don’t count the old man out. The Broncos are still 45-11 with Peyton starting, and they have a 3 game lead in their division.
. The Broncos just didn’t perform well as a team in this game. True, it was probably one of the worst games in Peyton’ss career but his career is way too long to look that up (lol). But if you know Peyton Manning he’s going to take the blame, and he is going to say they are going to go back and fix it, because that’s what the greats do.
71,870 yards, and he is still trucking. Drew Brees is around 59,000 right now and Tom Brady is around 56,000 (playing as I type). Eli is just over 42,000 yards, and everybody else in the top 12 is retired.
So congrats to you Peyton Manning on your amazing accomplishment. It is nothing but a pleasure to watch you work. It’s also safe to say the title/record will be quite safe for the time being.
