Between the first and second quarters of Sunday’s Chargers-Broncos game at Qualcomm Stadium, fans will participate in a special card ceremony to commemorate the team’s Annual Salute to Service game, presented by USAA.
Fans throughout the Field, Plaza and Loge/Club levels and will find cards on their seats when they arrive. At the end of the first quarter, the special card stunt will be performed to reveal a patriotic message from USAA (see attached).
For more than 50 years, the National Football League and its clubs have supported our nation’s veterans and active duty servicemen and women. Last year, the league launched the Salute to Service military appreciation campaign, which unified the collective work of all clubs in this effort. Weekly in-stadium tributes to servicemen and women, visits to military hospitals, players and coaches traveling on overseas USO tours, the creation of the NFL-Tillman Military Scholarship are the backbone of the Salute to Service campaign.
For every point scored during the 32 Salute to Service games in 2013, the NFL will donate $100 to each of its core military non-profit partners – the Pat Tillman Foundation, USO and Wounded Warrior Project ($300 total per point scored)
At Salute to Service games throughout the league, each player’s helmet will feature a seal that represents a branch of the military. Also players will wear on-field gloves and captains patches, and will use camouflage-branded Gatorade towels on the sidelines. Additionally, game-balls with the NFL shield camo-ribbon decal will be used during all plays and a club-customized Salute to Service coin will be used for the toss. NFL shield camo-ribbon lapel pins will also be given to coaches, executives and owners.
