Former Miami Redhawk quarterback Zac Dysert took to the field today at the Browns Training Facility. Only, he was not suiting up to play with another team from the Buckeye state.
As part of the 2013 NFL Rookie Symposium, a PLAY 60 Youth Event was held at the Cleveland Browns Training and Administrative complex in Berea, OH. Dysert joined the entire band of AFC Rookies from the 2013 Draft Class to lead a group of approximately 150 Cleveland area children in interactive games, teach football skills and drills, and follow up with a healthy barbecue. The event supports the NFL’s commitment to the community and encourages kids to lead an active lifestyle.
Dysert said “It’s awesome to get out here and give back to the community, even though it’s not ours (Denver) but I’m from Ohio and it means a lot to get out with these kids and keep them active.”
Dysert grew up and attended Ada High School in Ada, Ohio before playing collegiately at Miami University where he surpassed former Redhawk and current Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethisberger as the All-Time Passing leader with 12,013 career yards.
Dysert was drafted in the 7th round by the Denver Broncos and was the ninth quarterback drafted in 2013, one of the fewest in draft history. He will compete with fellow rookie Ryan Katz and second year QB Brock Osweiler for the backup position behind Peyton Manning.
Dysert looks forward to learning from his “idol growing up”, Peyton Manning. “This is just a dream come true to make it to the NFL. It’s Awesome to think that I have the opportunity to learn from one of the greatest Quarterbacks in NFL History.”
The NFC Rookies will have their opportunity to work with another group of local kids on Friday.
