Trevor Siemian Leads the Broncos to 3-0 on the Road

The Denver Broncos entered week three with a 2-0 record having defeated Cam Newton’s Carolina Panthers and Andrew Luck’s Indianapolis Colts.  That has not been enough to answer critics’ questions.  Can Denver’s offense produce– especially in the Red Zone?  Can Siemian execute on the road?  Can the broncos win if their lethal defense doesn’t save them?

Siemian and the Denver offense answered those questions today with an emphatic YES.

Deep in the heart of the Cincinnati Jungle, Siemian launched an aerial assault that demolished the Bengals with a 29-17 victory.  Siemian became the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for four touchdowns and 300 yards without an interception is his first start of the road.  Siemian finished with 312 yards and a 132.1 QB rating.

Two of Siemian’s touchdowns were in the Red Zone and two were deep balls– one for 41 yards to Emmanuel Sanders and a 55 yard pass hauled in by Demaryius Thomas.  Sanders and Thomas had been vocal during the week about their frustrations with the lack of big plays they were putting up.  Siemian wanted both of his teammates to have the chance to make big plays.  Both receivers contributed 100+ yards today.

The Bengals successfully held Denver’s ground game to 52 rushing yards– a normally effective attack against Kubiak’s offense.  They were not, however, able to stop the Broncos secondary as Siemian spread the ball around completing passes to nine Denver Broncos.

As a 7th round pick in 2015, Siemian earned his spot the hard way.  He sat behind the future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning whose spot was destined to be filled by backup Brock Osweiler.  When Osweiler left for Houston, John Elway brought in veteran QB Mark Sanchez and the QB competition began.  When preseason was done, Siemian was the last man standing and today he earned the nickname TMoney from his teammates.

The Broncos can rush, they can defend, they can run, and, yes, they can pass.  How will NFL teams stop them?
