Top 5 Pass Rushing Prospects for the 2018 NFL Draft

Here are the top pass rushing prospects for this year’s NFL draft.

1. Bradley Chubb, North Carolina State

Some experts have him as the best player in the entire draft. He is thought of by many scouts as one of the top pass rushers in the past couple years coming out of college. He is the whole package when it comes to an edge rusher. He is quick and knows how to use his speed to get around lineman, but also uses his hands very well to get separation. Not only this, but he is solid against the run too. In 2017, Chubb had 10 sacks and 23 tackles for loss. (ESPN) He is going to be a nightmare for offensive lineman for many years to come.

2. Marcus Davenport, Texas-San Antonio

Marcus Davenport came onto the scene as a top rusher very late. He was not talked about this highly during his college career playing at a college not known for football. However, he made his name in the combine and senior bowl. He has great speed and natural size that he uses to his benefit. He had the fastest 40-yard dash at this year’s combine of anyone at his position. (USA Today) Davenport has a very high ceiling, which is why he will be taken in the first round.

3. Harold Landry, Boston College

Harold Landry mainly uses his speed while rushing the passer, as he us undersized for his position. He had a great 2016 where he was able to record 16.5 sacks. (USA Today) In 2017, he missed about half the season with an ankle injury and was not able to match the great season he had in the previous year. Even though he is undersized, if he stays healthy, he will productive as a pass rusher in the NFL.

4. Sam Hubbard, Ohio State University

Sam Hubbard does not have the athleticism the players above him have, but he doe shave great football knowledge and instincts. He is good against the run, and he can get to the quarterback. He ended the 2017 season with 7 sacks for Ohio State. (ESPN) He is going to be a second day pick, and with improvement he can become a great pass rusher in the NFL.

5. Arden Key, Louisiana State University

Arden Key is a very talented pass rusher coming out of LSU. He has the talent to be a great player, but teams are worried about his character. He left LSU for around 4 months during the spring and has refused to comment on why he did so. He also played last year at a weight that was too much for NFL teams liking. It has been reported he has lost weight preparing to go to the NFL. If he can sustain this and have good character for a locker room, he is going to be a great pick for an NFL team.
