The New England Patriots overcame a ten point deficit to come out victorious in Super Bowl XLIX. The score was 28-24 in favor of the Patriots and could have gotten really ugly if not for Tom Brady fighting through two interceptions. Brady was named the Super Bowl MVP for the third time which ties him with Joe Montana for most ever. Brady led his team on a couple of scoring drives in the fourth quarter.
The stat line for the day was pretty impressive. Brady was able to complete 37 of his 50 attempts for a total of 328 yards and four touchdowns. His four touchdowns passed Joe Montana for most ever by a quarterback. Here is a list of the records that Brady either set or tied during his sixth Super Bowl appearance:

Brady was more caught in the moment when asked about how this game affects his legacy. “I never put myself in those discussions. It’s not how I think. There are so many great players on so many great teams. I just want to enjoy the moment. I’ve been on the other end of this twice.” said Brady. “When I was a kid growing up in San Mateo, Joe Montana and Steve Young were my idols. I’ve never played the game to be the greatest ever. All of those discussions aren’t for me. I am just a lucky guy that’s fortunate to be the QB for a great team.”
He also made it clear that he was not planning on leaving the game anytime soon. “I have a lot of football left. Playing this game takes a big commitment. It’s a big challenge and incredible to experience this feeling once, I am fortunate to experience it four times.”
In true leader form, Brady was sure to point out that his teammates made a lot of plays. He said that he was proud of the team’s effort. “It’s a team effort, there’s never one player. A lot of guys overcame challenges. “One of those challenges was presented to rookie corner Malcolm Butler. The game was on the line and Butler made a tremendous play on the ball to secure the interception and insure the win for his team.
The emotion that overcame Brady was evident as he jumped up and down on the sideline after witnessing what he called an unbelievable play. Brady said that he felt that play killed some momentum. “Going into the second half, I felt like we were ready to do it but then Bobby [Wagner] made the big play to intercept the ball.”
That was when Brady’s true character shined through. He didn’t slump his shoulders or put his head down. The Patriots where down by ten points and Brady rallied his troops telling them to secure a solid drive to get back into the game. It may have looked like it was all over after an interception by Wagner. That wasn’t the case for the Patriots as Brady capped off the game by going eight for eight including the game winning pass to Julian Edelman.
Tom Brady was named the Super Bowl MVP after winning his fourth Super Bowl which ties him for the most ever by a quarterback.
