Super Bowl is one of the few events that promise to bring the biggest celebrities from every genre. When you walk into an event whether a charity function, a NFL Play 60 Event or an after party following the World Championship you never know whom you might run into.
Hearts and Helmets, a celebrity charity poker tournament, produced by Pro Player Insiders and Dream Dealers delivered stars from a variety of platforms. With football being America’s sport, you never know whom you might run into during Super Bowl. As you entered the event off the red carpet and through the sea of gifts presented preferred sponsored brands such as Gemstone Organic, Brikk, Toast Vodka, Cold Cock Whiskey, Dr. Miracles, and Luxe Lounge to name a few.
In the main rooms there were 16 poker tables run by beautiful dealers in their white and black, pin-striped dresses. The tables were filled with poker players, athletes and celebrities including American actor, musician, writer, producer, and racing driver, Frankie Munoz, World Champion Sprinter Tyree Washington, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Major Wright, Arizona Cardinals Ryan Lindley, Former New York Yankee Shelly Duncan, Grammy winner Marvin “Young MC” Young, NFL veteran Leonard Davis and Miss Black Arizona USA (2015) amongst others. These All-Stars, with varied level of expertise in the poker world, sat side by side, playing head to head against one another.
Heart and Helmets was hosted by American Poker Player and 2003 World Series Poker Champion, Chris MoneyMaker as well as NFL Icon Jim McMahon.
The event was produced with the upmost precision with an open bar as well as lunch and dinner served by a family owned and operated establishment, who went above and beyond when preparing their meats. There was a silent auction with dream getaways to Jimmy Fallon’s show, as well as raffles were portions of the proceeds went to selected charities.
The winners of the tournament received the following fantastic prizes:
1st Place – $4,000 cash
2nd Place – $1,500 for Millionaire Maker WSOP event in Las Vegas
3rd Place – 7-day cruise with Chris Moneymaker
4th Place – 4-day Caribbean Cruise
5th-10th Place – Aces and Bases charity poker tournament tickets and a poker chip set/case autographed by Chris Moneymaker
The event started off at noon and lasted well into the night. As each guest arrived they were graced with the sweet sounds of, former offensive lineman, 2x Pro Bowler and 3x Super Bowl Champion from the Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders, Henry Lawrence singing beautiful melodies to welcome everyone to the event. Hearts and Helmets did not disappoint as many of the elite poker players advanced throughout the evening attaining prizes of jewelry, trips and money.
Hearts and Helmets held in Scottsdale, Arizona, benefiting Every Kid Counts Children’s Charity, was a huge success. This was the second go-round in Arizona held during the Super Bowl, and if you weren’t there for all the action, you definitely missed out, but we have plenty of photos for you to get a taste of the action.
