Neanderthal Radio Host Stuck in the 1920′s; Alleges “There’s No Place For A Woman In Professional Sports”

Yesterday the Buffalo Bills and Kathryn Smith made history, as Smith became the first female in NFL history to be named to a full-time coaching position when she accepted the role of becoming the team’s special teams quality control coach.

Cleveland sports radio host Kevin Kiley had the hottest of hot takes today, continuing his hate towards women in sports with comments this morning about how “there’s no place for a women in professional sports” on CBS Cleveland’s 92.3 The Fan.

The full 13-minute conversation is below (before it gets deleted of course), but here are some of the “highlights” about what this clown was spewing over the airwaves.

  • “There’s no place for a women in professional sports, in football, coaching men.”
  • “This is the old conversation we had about having a woman vote for the Hall of Fame in football. It’s absurd. I mean do you really want your determination, whether you make the Hall of Fame in football, do you want a woman to have a vote on that, who’s never played the game and doesn’t understand the intensity of the game?”
  • “What resume, did it include shoulder pads?”
  • “When you stand next to a woman are you bigger and stronger? Do you have the ability to impose your will physically on most people? Women don’t have that.”
  • “Football is about physical advantage. [Women] are at a loss when it comes to the reference points of football. This is not discrimination against women. I don’t care if a woman is President, that’d be great. I don’t care if a woman runs a corporation, that’d be great. But don’t set people up to fail.”
  • “She couldn’t possibly be qualified to the same level that a man could be qualified to do that.”

Oh you know, a women entering her 14th year in the NFL next season certainly can’t be qualified to make a jump in the ranks, eh?

In 2015, Smith served as the team’s administrative assistant to the head coach.

Prior to joining the Bills in 2015, Smith spent 12 seasons working for the New York Jets. Smith originally began her career in 2003 as a Jets Gameday/Special Events Intern. She became a College Scouting Intern in 2005 before being promoted to Player Personnel Assistant in 2007 and going on to be named Assistant to the Head Coach in 2014.

Not to mention the fact that many NFL writers and even coaches currently employed throughout the league have absolutely no experience in playing the game at any level.

This all coming from a guy who has taken as many snaps in the NFL as me.

Stay classy, Mr. Kiley.

Here’s to you being off the airwaves very soon.
