Miami Dolphins win their fifth straight as they defeat the Los Angeles Rams 14-10

During his five seasons in the NFL, Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill has often been criticized because of his inconsistent play and his inability to carry a team on his back. While he wasn’t great in the first three quarters on Sunday, Tannehill came up huge when the Dolphins need him most.

Down 14-0 in the fourth quarter, Tannehill led the Dolphins on two consecutive touchdown drives as Miami came back to defeat the Los Angeles Rams 14-10. Tannehill first threw a touchdown pass to receiver Jarvis Landry with 4:02 left in the fourth quarter. Then after getting the ball back after a Rams punt, Tannehill then drove down the field and connected with DeVante Parker with 36 seconds left to seal the four-point victory.

Speaking of Parker, he finished with eight catches for 79 yards and a touchdown on the day. Dolphins running back Jay Ajayi was held to under 100 yards for the second straight week as he had 77 yards on the day.

Los Angeles quarterback Jared Goff’s debut didn’t go as the team had hoped, as he was 17 of 31 for 134 yards on the afternoon. It appeared the Rams were most comfortable having Goff throw short passes to his running backs.

In the first quarter, the Rams got on the board with a 24-yard Todd Gurley touchdown run. After that long run, Gurley finished with just 76 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries.

After the Gurley touchdown, it was a game of punts. The Rams and Dolphins both combined for 18 punts on Sunday.

For the better part of the day, Miami’s offensive line struggled against the Los Angeles defensive front. The Rams sacked Tannehill four times and even forced him to throw an interception as well.

At 6-4, Miami is just one game behind the Kansas City Chiefs for the sixth seed in the AFC. Los Angeles is now 4-6 on the year as they fell behind the Washington Redskins and the Minnesota Vikings for the last playoff spot in the NFC.
