Miami Dolphins Jay Ajayi and Jarvis Landry added to AFC Pro Bowl roster

Both running back Jay Ajayi and receiver Jarvis Landry were named as AFC alternates for the Pro Bowl when the teams were announced on December 20. Now because of injury, both Ajayi and Landry will play in the NFL’s all-star game.

The leagued announced on Wednesday that Ajayi and Landry were named to the AFC Pro Bowl roster. The two will join defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh and defensive end Cameron Wake.

After being made inactive in Week 1, Ajayi rushed for 1,272 rushing yards, the third-most in a single season in Dolphins history and fourth-highest in the NFL in 2016. He became the fourth player in NFL history to have at least three 200-yard games in the same season. His three 200-yard games ranked No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 on Miami’s single-game rushing chart. Ajayi is also the fourth player ever to have back-to-back 200-yard performances.

Landry recorded his second consecutive 1,000-yard season with 94 receptions for 1,136 yards and four touchdowns. His 94 receptions are second in team history behind the team record he set in 2015 of 110 catches. The 1,136 receiving yards are eighth-best in Dolphins history and 10th in the NFL in 2016. He also caught 26 passes on third downs, tied for seventh-most in the league. This will be the second Pro Bowl of Landry’s career after he was also named to the team after the 2015 season.

Ajayi and Landry will be replacing Buffalo Bills LeSean McCoy and Cincinnati Bengals receiver A.J. Green as both are dealing with injuries. The 2017 Pro Bowl will be played on Sunday, January 29, 2017 and air live on ESPN and ESPN Deportes from Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida.
