Game Analysis by Ray Lewis and Randy Moss

Ray Lewis and Randy Moss are taking their talents to commentary this fall. It must make some people feel old knowing that Lewis and Moss are no longer going to be on the field on Sundays.

Ray Lewis had a decorated 17 year career in the NFL, all with the Ravens. Now as an analyst he feels he can be just as successful. “I honestly think the sky is the limit for me”. The former linebacker was known on the field for his passion and intensity and now he will be able to bring all his talents into an analyst role with ESPN.

But how will all those talents translate to television? Ray Lewis can’t will his “team” through the A block of a sportscast, can he?

Viewers this fall will see that there is much more to Lewis than what we have seen on the football field. We will find out more and more about the true football IQ of Ray Lewis and people are going to see how smart this guy really is. Just like a being on the football field, the people in charge have to put Lewis in a position to succeed based on his skill set. Transitioning to television takes time, practice and attention to detail. All things that Lewis has shown relentless dedication for during his playing days.

If you have seen Lewis on television early in this NFL season then you know he has an intense and effective way of communicating. He has a nice pace to his responses and has the knowledge to point out and break down things that people who haven’t played the game simply can’t do. And when he talks you see that fire and intensity fused with excitement about the subject. He loves talking about football.

As Lewis gets eased into the broadcasting world it will be interesting to see what assignments he is placed on. There have been reports that he could be working the opening round of the 2014 NFL Draft. That would be an interesting assignment for Lewis. He will most likely never be a draft expert who has a mock draft 7 rounds deep nor will he be a guy who sits down and watches tape of player from top to bottom. But imagine if you asked him to just study the top defensive players or just the linebackers in the draft. That would be some expert analysis on a guy who arguably has been the best defensive player in the league for most the 2000s.

On top of all the knowledge and wisdom that comes with Ray Lewis, imagine the entertainment value of having him on the air. All that excitement and intensity in a new setting of TV. Imagine a spoof with Lewis firing up the news team. Who knows what will happen but having Ray on TV will definitely be entertaining

The often misunderstood Moss now can portray his thoughts on TV

Randy Moss will also be providing a lot of entertainment value as well. Randy has been known for his quotes like “straight cash homie” when referring to paying a fine. The “Mooning” at Lambeau along with many more on field antics show that Moss is a colorful and often controversial figure.

The polarizing wide receiver played for the 49ers last season but was unable to find a team to sign him on this year. So now Moss will be a regular on the Fox networks Fox 1 football program. “I love football, and this is just a new way for me to be part of the game. This gives me the opportunity to keep learning,” said Moss.

This is a great addition to television as Moss should not only provide his polarizing personality but his in-depth football analysis as well. Moss has been touted by many of his colleagues as a brilliant football mind.

Both Lewis and Moss had such tremendous success on the field that it is hard to imagine that they will not be successful in their new field. Both are passionate and hard working as well as being interesting characters to have on any football panel. It’s hard to imagine both of them not being on the football field this season though there are many people out there who would rather have these two guys on camera as a player rather than an analyst.

The hope is that these two achieve nothing but success as they will look to find their niche in television. Moss and Lewis should provide true insight and knowledge to football fans everywhere. Welcome to the media Ray and Randy.
