Far Away Fans Come Out to NYC for 2012 NFL Draft

Traveling from all corners of the country and waiting in line is what differentiates an avid NFL fan from an average NFL fan. This week New York City has been filled with avid fans. Americans represent their favorite teams year round, but this week fans were decked out in their finest team gear outside Radio Music City Hall.

Starting at 10pm Wednesday, thousands of fans started lining up on 50th Street to score the first come first serve tickets. Thursday’s line up was a bit different. The die hard fans lining the street were the fortunate ones. These fans scored one of 5,931 seats available to enter this year’s 77th NFL Draft.

Jets and the Super Bowl champion Giants fans weren’t the only fans in attendance, fans from all 32 teams were represented last night. Some notable fans flew in from DC, Los Angeles, Cleveland, Boston, Miami, Jersey City, Cincinnati, and Buffalo.

Bengals fan said, “It’s basically every fan from all over wearing their own jersey. I flew here all the way from Los Angeles to see who the Bengals pick.”

Watching the draft in person is the ultimate fan experience. An Eagles fan representing Philly explained, “There is no greater excitement then watching my team’s picks first hand. The excitement and enthusiasm of the draft is why crazy fans line up for tickets to attend. I even brought the Eagles schedule in my back pocket for luck.”

Amongst the fans “J-e-t-s..Jets,Jets,Jets,” was being chanted by a group of Jets fans that later busted out their Tebowing moves.  One Browns fan in particular expressed his thoughts on the laundry list of needs for his team, “The Browns could use a quarterback, uhhh a cornerback, a safety, uhhhh and that is about it besides a wide receiver.” This Browns fan and all the avid fans waiting outside are here to welcome a new member to their team , get a sense of a new team beginning, and maybe even a chance to go wait in a line outside of the Super Dome come February.
