There are many unheralded events of Super Bowl week. One of these events combines fun and faith – the Super Bowl Gospel, held the Friday evening before the game on Sunday. The event brings in gospel singers and celebrities to celebrate faith and music together with the football players and their families. There are performances by the singers and celebrities, with the players getting in on the action with their own choir.
Fantasia, Donnie McClurkin, Rev Run, Natalie Grant, CeCe Winans, Hezekiah Walker and the NFL Player Gospel Choir wore Shannon Saint Clair Cross Bracelets by former Bears Player John Saint Clair’s wife at the Super Bowl Gospel.

This year’s event marks the thirteenth year that it has been held and was hosted by Rev Run, formerly of Run DMC and reality star from the MTV hit series, Run’s House. The event featured solos from CeCe Winans, Natalie Grant, Donnie McClurkin, Wess Morgan, Hezekiah Walker, and American Idol Season 3 winner and Broadway star Fantasia.
The players’ choir features over forty active and retired players who have been performing at the Super Bowl Gospel since its formation in 2008. The choir was under the direction of Donnie McClurkin and Myron Butler. Several Christian NFL players formed the choir as a way to express their faith through song and musical instruments that showcase some
of their less well-known talents. Choir members have included Donald Driver (Green Bay), Dwight Freeney (Colts), Antwaan Randle El (free agent/Steelers), Benjamin Watson (Browns), Tim Brown (retired Raiders), Ray Buchanan (retired Colts/Falcons), Dextor Clinkscale (retired Dallas), and more.
The 2012 NFL choir performed with lead soloist Donnie McClurkin, who wore a Shannon Saint Clair Cross Bracelet during the performance. Players also talked about their faith in video interviews shown at the event. Shannon Saint Clair Jewelry was a perfect fit for this faith and football festivity.
