The Indianapolis Colts are fighting hunger during the month of November. As a part of their efforts, the team has joined forces with Meijer and the Indiana Corn and Soybean Alliance to fight hunger through two separate events.
The Colts provided 10 mothers from Coburn Place Safe Haven with a Meijer shopping spree to prepare their families with food and supplies for the Thanksgiving holiday. Colts players also made crafts with the children while the mothers shopped with a $200 gift card, courtesy of Meijer. This is the fifth consecutive year of this event. The mothers are currently served by Coburn Place, an organization that helps survivors of domestic violence and their families to heal and regain independence from abuse.
The Colts also teamed up with Indiana Corn Marketing Council and Indiana Soybean Alliance to put a stop to hunger by supporting Indianapolis’ second annual Kids Against Hunger of Central Indiana “Million Meal Marathon.” The event was at Lucas Oil Stadium where more than 3,200 volunteers packed nutritious meals that where distributed through Gleaners, Midwest Food Bank and Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana to families in need.
