Chargers WR Keenan Allen will miss the rest of the season because of the lacerated kidney he suffered Sunday against Baltimore, according to insider Michael Gehlken. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Allen underwent a “procedure” this week.
Allen’s absence raises the fantasy profiles of WRs Malcom Floyd, Stevie Johnson and Dontrelle Inman the rest of the way, and leaves targets on the field for Antonio Gates, Ladarius Green and the RBs. Losing his #1 WR lowers the ceiling for QB Philip Rivers a bit, but he has spread the ball around quite well so far in an offense that must lean heavily on him with little going in the run game.
Johnson and Floyd need to be owned in all leagues and are worth targeting aggressively on waiver wires if you need WR help. Inman is worth stashing in deeper setups.
