CB Maurice Canady Honors Slain Virginia Police Officer at the NFL Combine

At the NFL Combine a former University of Virginia CB reminded us that it’s not all about the game.  Maurice Canady wore special cleats when he ran the 40-yard dash with the name of a fallen Prince William County (Va.) police officer Ashley Guindon.

Guindon was fatally shot on February 27, 2016,  when she responded to a domestic violence call during her first shift as a police officer. Maurice is from Prince William County and his cousin Alexus is a police officer there currently.

One of Maurice’s cleats will be given to Guindon’s family and the other will be put up for auction with the proceeds going to Officer Guindon’s memorial fund. Under Armour made the cleats and will also donate to the fund.

Maurice is 6’1, 193 pounds. Here’s the rest of his Combine numbers:
4.49 40
16 bench reps
38 inch vertical
10’4 broad jump

He finished in the top 15 in the 40, vertical and broad jump and has the physical tools and  athleticism that teams look for to go along with his outstanding character and compassion.

Special thanks to Melanie Wadden & Select Sports Group for the pictures.
