Minnesota Viking’s running back Adrian Peterson has been in a positive state of mind about returning with his teammates to participate in off-season workouts. When asked at what percentage he felt he was in, he then responded close to full potential, but not there quite yet. In late January, Peterson decided to go ahead with surgery to repair a groin injury that he sustained in November against the Dallas Cowboys.
Peterson does not have a time description on when he will be back; “I can’t really put a date on it, but I do look forward to participating,” Peterson said. “Right now the most important thing is getting healthy and that’s what I’m doing. I’m rehabbing, working out still, trying to get the body back to where it needs to be.”
This has been Peterson’s third injury in the last three years and he wants to be fully recovered for next season; “I can’t sit here and say that I’m back right now, but I am not far off at all,” Peterson said.
Last season Peterson had only played in 14 games with 1,266 yards, but he has known to come back from an injury with a vengeance; coming off an ACL injury in 2012 Peterson shocked the league by rushing for 2,097 yards and was 9 yards shy of breaking Eric Dickerson’s record.
Peterson has shown that he will push his body to the limits and will be back in perfect time to showcase that he is still in fact one of the running backs to fear.
