The Seattle Seahawks, CenturyLink, Inc. (NYSE: CTL), Q13 FOX (KCPQ), and Sports Authority announced today Nathaniel Tolton of Kennedy Catholic High School as the week nine CenturyLink High School Athlete of the Week. Nathaniel will be at CenturyLink Field during the November 9 game against the New York Giants.
Nathaniel, a senior at Kennedy Catholic High School, was selected to be the Athlete of the Week based on his dedication to academics, community involvement, leadership, and athletic performance. Nathaniel has maintained a 3.87 cumulative GPA while being an active participant in many extracurricular activities. He is a member of the jazz band, the concert band, the marching band, the National Honor Society, and the varsity tennis and soccer teams. As a senior, Nathaniel was selected to be a captain of his soccer team and received the sportsmanship reward for his tennis team who are undefeated in the last 22 matches. Academically, he challenges himself by taking multiple honors and AP courses in order to earn some college credits. When Nathaniel is not focused on his own academic success, he is an active member of his community. Over the last four years he has helped set up book sales for the Seattle Times Fund for the Needy, helped run Puget Sound Blood Center blood drives, and run a biology camp for other high school students. He also has served as an altar server and acolyte at his church since the 5th grade.
As the CenturyLink High School Athlete of the Week, the student-athlete will also be recognized at their school in front of their family, peers and teachers. They will also receive a $1,200 gift card supported by Sports Authority from CenturyLink and the Seahawks for their school’s Athletic Department, in addition to media recognition, tickets and sideline passes to a Seahawks game, and a customized 2014 Nike Seahawks jersey.
