Since joining the San Francisco 49ers, wide receiver Randy Moss has been uncharacteristically quite, while showing his mature nature for accepting his reduced role on offense.
The question among the media members throughout the season was how long it would take for Randy Moss to finally open up and say something Randy Moss is known for.
Apparently, anyone who picked the day before Media Day would have won that bet.
When cornered by the media on Tuesday, Moss was asked about his place in NFL history.
“I do think I’m the greatest receiver ever to play this game,” Moss said.
Now that’s the Randy Moss we all know and remember.
Plenty of people will be debating Moss declaration, making the case if he really is the greatest of all-time. Adam Shefter of ESPN was actually with Jerry Rice when word got out of Moss’s comments and the man who is actually known by most as the G.O.A.T. instantly shot back his own thoughts on the matter.
“Put my numbers up against his numbers,” Rice said.
No problem.
Jerry Rice – 21 Seasons, 1549 Receptions, 22,895 Receiving Yards, 14.8 Yards-Per-Reception, 197 Receiving Touchdowns, 3 Super Bowl Wins, 1 Super Bowl MVP
Randy Moss – 14 Seasons, 982 Receptions, 15,292 Receiving Yards, 15.6 Yards-Per-Reception, 156 Receiving Touchdowns, 0 Super Bowl Wins, 0 Super Bowl MVP
The fact that Moss is coming to the end of his career now and Rice was able to outlast him for six more seasons and still play at a high level should speak for itself.
