As a former player for the New England Patriots, Jabar Gaffney should be a well-oiled receiving machine. After Miami’s loss on Sunday to the Indianapolis Colts, Gaffney still has yet to show Miami why they selected him to come in as a feature receiver. In Sunday’s game, he was only able to haul in 2 catches for 27 yards and no TDs, which is not exactly productive.
In his 3 consecutive seasons with the Patriots, Gaffney had a career total of 85 catches for 1059 yards. His career high for one single season occurred last year with the Washington Redskins, where he caught 68 passes for 947 yards and 5 TDs. With stats like these, Gaffney could very well become Miami’s go-to receiver in the upcoming games.
Gaffney’s second start with the Dolphins proved that he still needs more practice time with the offensive unit and to improve his chemistry with Ryan Tannehill, who had a phenomenal performance in Sunday’s game. Only time will tell whether Gaffney will be a receiver on the rise, or if he will fail to deliver, just as Brandon Marshall did last season for the Dolphins.

I think that Gaffney was a very solid pickup by the Dolphons. I know that he only had two catches Sunday but he was targeted just three times. Like you said though, all he needs is more time to develop a rapport with Tannehill. He’s proven to be a reliable option everywhere he’s been and he doesn’t get enough credit for what he’s done over his career. In conclusion though, this move will probably payoff nicely for the Dolphins who are so thin at reciever. Nice article by the way! Keep up the good work!
