The Denver Broncos have announced $30 million will be put into renovations to improve Sports Authority Field at Mile High in time for the 2013 season.
In November, The Denver Broncos submitted and application to the NFL’s Super Bowl advisory committee to bid to host the NFL’s championship game in 2018, 2019 or 2020. But Andy Gorchov, the general manager of the stadium management company, says the move has nothing to do with the bid.
“It’s not really tied to the Super Bowl bid,” said Gorchov. “The potential year for a Super Bowl is pretty far down the road. This is more about a need to provide the best fan experience we can today and tomorrow.”
The majority of the money will go towards updating the stadium’s video boards.
“The original boards that are installed at the stadium are still good boards, obviously, but they really have a life expectancy of about 10 years for that type of technology,” Gorchov said. “The other issue is we have to upgrade the entire stadium to high definition.”
The Denver Post claims, HD flat screens will also replace TV monitors in the concourses. And the overall audio system throughout the stadium will be upgraded.
“These are improvements that will benefit everyone that’s in attendance,” Gorchov said. “It doesn’t matter what section you are in, seating area you’re in. Everybody benefits from these improvements.”
