With the No. 5 pick in the NFL draft, the Arizona Cardinals went the best-player-available route and selected former LSU cornerback Patrick Peterson.
Analysis: Cornerback isn’t as strong a need position for the Cardinals as quarterback or some other spots, but his pure talent was too good to pass up at the No. 5 pick. He’ll upgrade Arizona on defense and on special team from Day One and can play safety at the start if he isn’t ready to play one-on-one cornerback right away in the NFL.
