Josh Allen Needs To Improve His Accuracy On Deep Ball Passes

Buffalo- Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills are over 500 and have been named the “Comeback Kings” in the last four games, the Bills had to come back from an early deficit and turn their bad luck into a lucky charm. Allen has a QB rating of 80.2 with 7 TDs and 7 picks but has a problem with throwing the ball down the field to his wide receivers. The ball just floats in the air or Allen does not put enough heat on the ball to give his receivers a chance to make plays. Allen is around 30% with competiting balls over 30 yards.

It seems like Allen is not that confident in his ability to throw the ball downfield and rather check the ball down. His longest pass and catch this season was 51 yards. There have been a lot of critics that have been wondering why Allen has not taken many shots down the field, but Allen is not really worried about that as long as his team comes out with a victory. Bills’ head coach Sean McDermott likes the improvement that he sees with Allen but would want more out of everyone. Last weekend against the Dolphins, drives were stalled, because of penalties.

“Our whole team we have a lot of work to do,” said McDermott. “This week is another week for us to continue to improve and work on our fundamentals and our discipline. As it relates to our penalties, our tackling, our catching the football, our blocking, getting off blocks, we have to execute at a higher level. We had opportunities in the game. I thought the first couple of drives we drove the football, but we need to score seven on those drives. So we’ve got a week of work ahead of us here.”

This weekend the Bills face a depleted Eagles’ team that has had trouble this season with keeping receivers out of the endzone. This would be a great chance for Allen to get some ball down to his wide receivers because the Eagles have allowed 6 touchdowns that were 30-yards or more. We shall see if Allen takes his shots facing a team that is defensively ranked 16th in the league.
