The Giants today announced they have signed wide receiver Keith Carlos.
They had an opening on their roster after waiving rookie running back Jeremy Wright on Friday.
Carlos, 6-0 and 199 pounds, was briefly with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2011, but has no professional playing experience.
He played at Purdue University in 2009 and 2010, first as wide receiver and then as a running back. Carlos played in nine games each year. In his first season with the Boilermakers, he caught 21 passes for 242 yards and a touchdown. Carlos also returned five kickoffs for 134 yards, with a long runback of 34 yards.
In 2010, Carlos had 56 rushing attempts for 314 yards (5.6-yard avg.) and two touchdowns and caught five passes for 22 yards.
Prior to enrolling at Purdue, Carlos played at Lackawanna College in Scranton, Pa. In 2008, he was named second team All-Northeast Football Conference after catching 26 passes for 459 yards (17.7-yard avg.) and four touchdowns while rushing for 166 yards on 23 carries (7.2-yard avg.).
Carlos attended Central High School in Bridgeport, Conn., where he was named first-team all-state as a senior.
