Kirk Mitchell of the Denver Post reports former Denver Broncos owner and philanthropist Edgar Kaiser Jr. died Jan. 11, according to the Vancouver Sun. He was 69.
Kaiser died while on a business trip to Toronto.
While Kaiser was owner of the Broncos he made a deal that brought John Elway to the team in 1983.
Kaiser purchased the Broncos from the Phipps family in early 1981, and named Dan Reeves coach.
Kaiser sold his 60.8 percent ownership in the Broncos to current owner Pat Bowlen in 1984 for $65 million.
