When I was thinking about writing this week I couldn’t find a positive twist in writing about Tim Tebow. Just a week ago this “star” NFL quarterback had only completed 2 passes. I naturally don’t like him because he’s a Gator and I’m a Seminole but, for some reason, it goes way beyond that.
It started when Tebow was drafted in the first round after having TERRIBLE work outs and a senior bowl. His throwing was so bad Tebow had to basically learn how to throw again when he changed his technique to try and boost his draft position. All of this would usually equal disaster for a college football player, but not Tebow. He still went in the first round because coaches and commentators said he was a good person with great character.
He is still terrible to me, and to most people, as a “quarterback,” but as a “football player”….he’s AWESOME! Tebow refuses to lose and uses his athletic ability to pull out wins. It is great how the Broncos have adjusted the offense to work with his style and to be successful. But what I love most is how Tebow is helping out thousands of young black men that are currently playing quarterback, at all levels, throughout the country. If only he had come before then maybe guys like Charlie Ward, that was “too short” to make it; or Anquan Boldin and Lorne Sam, who Bobby Bowden said were “too athletic” to just have them play QB. Ward and Boldin ended up ok in life but this killed Sam and other young men like him.
So I would like to thank Mr. Tebow for what I hope will open the eyes of owners, GM’s and coaches. If you have an athletic QB, let him do his thing no matter what race he is.

Good article lil bro I was a lil scared before I read this but then I realized you do have a lil sense left and you wouldn’t say nothing ignorant lol all in all good article Keep Grinding #GE
What? Black QBs like Kordell Stewart, and Randall Cunningham, and the late Steve McNair have been doing what Tebow is doing, or rather, TRYING to do for YEARS, WAY before Tebow, but all of a sudden, TEBOW is getting the credit?
Great take on the Tebow phenomenon. Perhaps lingering prejudices can be exposed and dealt with. There will be no other name for it when black quarterbacks of comparable ability and character are ignored or nudged into other positions.
