The Arizona Cardinals came away victorious in Cincinnati last Sunday.
It is almost becoming a broken record with the Cardinals. Put together decent drives, get into the Red Zone, kick a field goal. While they rank in the top 10 in the NFL in Red Zone trips, they are having trouble scoring touchdowns. The team has been relying heavily on kicker Zane Gonzalez, who after starting out perfect, has missed three field goals in the last two weeks. Thankfully, it did not cost the Cardinals a win this week.
Kyle Murray has continued to impress and has given the Cardinals’ fan-base high hopes for the future. Murray once again was able to pick up the ground game and lead the team with 93 rushing yards, including a touchdown on a fourth down keeper in the first quarter. Murray’s rushing ability is one of the many reasons the Cardinals made him the number 1 pick in the draft this year.
The Cardinals had seemingly put the game out of reach going up 23-9 midway through the 4th quarter on a Chase Edmonds 37-yard run. However, the Bengals wouldn’t go away easily. Two Andy Dalton touchdown passes later, the game was tied at 23 with two minutes left.
Just as they did against Detroit, the Cardinals’ offense, and their young quarterback, showed immense resolve. Murray lead the Cardinals right down the field, and with a 24 yard scramble, set up Gonzalez for the game winning 31 yard field goal.
This week, the Cardinals return home to State Farm Stadium to take on the floundering Atlanta Falcons. Can the Cardinals continue to build on their success, or will they let the Falcons come into Arizona and steal a win? Hopefully the Cardinals can give head coach Kliff Kingsbury the first home win of his NFL career.
