Eagles Ink DeMarco Murray and Ryan Mathews

Chip Kelly strikes again signing two running backs in former Dallas Cowboy DeMarco Murray and Ryan Mathews formerly of the San Diego Chargers. Murray has reportedly agreed to a blockbuster deal with the Philadelphia Eagles worth up to $40 million dollars with $21 million guaranteed. The deal for Ryan Matthews is reportedly a three year deal worth up to $11.5 million with $5 million guaranteed.

The running back duo will join Darren Sproles in the Philadelphia backfield left somewhat bare by the LeSean McCoy trade. The Eagles rushed for almost 2000 yards last season and just brought in former St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford via trade. That trade sent former Eagles quarterback Nick Foles, their 2015 fourth round pick and a 2016 second round pick in exchange for Bradford and the Rams 2015 fifth round pick. The Rams can also gain an additional conditional pick that will either be a third or a fourth depending on whether Bradford can stay healthy or not.

Kelly has surely made a mark as a head coach in the two years he has been league. Now we can say he has made his mark on NFL free agency as well. The jury is out on whether Kelly is a brilliant General Manager or operating like a kid running a Madden Franchise. Regardless, he makes the league interesting and that is a good thing.
