Von Miller is Super Bowl 50 MVP

Von Miller lead the one of the greatest– if not the greatest– defensive performance in Super Bowl history.  Cam Newton was the only player taken prior to Von Miller in the NFL draft in 2011.  When the two faced off in Sunday’s game, Miller walked away on top.  Miller finished with 2.5 sacks, 2 strip sacks, six tackles, two quarterback hits, and a defended pass.  His performance earned him MVP honors of Super Bowl 50– the fourth linebacker to receive the coveted award.

At a press conference on Monday morning, Miller was officially presented with the MVP trophy.   NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodall, spoke of Miller’s successes,  “He’s the kind of young man that plays this game at the highest level and does it off the field also.”  Goodall then turned to Miller, “Von, we’re proud of you. You did a terrific job yesterday. We’re glad to give you the MVP trophy.”

Von Miller

Miller spoke of wanting to share the award with his teammates.  He described the MVP honor as, “special, but the Super Bowl ring is something that I will keep with me for the rest of my life. I’ll be able to be with my brothers for eternity. I’ll be able to be with those guys for 100 years from now and that’s truly beautiful.”

Ware Miller

Of his ‘brothers,’  Miller spoke most passionately about DeMarcus Ware, “He’s an All-American person. He’s an All-Pro player. He’s a leader. He’s a big brother to me. He is a coach, mentor.”

A young Von Miller idolized Ware and patterned his play after him, “I remember when I first got into the game and watching DeMarcus and watching the passion that he played with. I wanted to mimic that in my game.”

In response to how it felt to help Ware finally win a Super Bowl, Miller stated, “To have a percentage in helping him achieve greatness is something that I will remember for the rest of my life.”

Denver Broncos v Carolina Panthers

Von Miller faces free agency this year and his performances in the playoff games and his Super Bowl MVP has significantly raised his net worth in the NFL.  He assured that his negotiations with John Elway and the Denver Broncos are going to be a “peaceful thing.”
