Dream Team QB Michael Vick said Friday , “There’s no reason to think that I won’t play on Sunday. I thank God for having two good days of practice,” Vick said. “I’m optimistic that I’ll be able to go out there and play against the New York Football Giants. If it wasn’t meant for me to be out on the field, I wouldn’t be feeling the way I feel now.”
Officially, the Philadelphia Eagles have listed quarterback Michael Vick as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Giants and announced that Vick has passed all the post-concussion tests and met with an independent neurosurgeon.
But Vick said that he feels “great,” is “ready to play” and “nothing feels different.” Vick praised the work of the Eagles and specifically head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder.
Vick will not change his helmet, although he will make sure to have his mouthguard in. Knowing that the Giants like to bring pressure off the blitz, Vick is embracing how New York will look to attack.
“They want me out of the game because they don’t want me in the game. Having to deal with me for 60 minutes, I understand the magnitude of that. It’s fun. It’s a game. That’s why I’m here,” Vick said. “I play the way I play for a reason. We’re going to have fun. I look forward to the challenge competitively. We’re excited about it over here. I know they’ve been doing a lot of talking, but they’re the New York Football Giants.”
Vick says he is focused on winning not anything else.
“I haven’t even thought about getting hit. I play this game to win. I’m not thinking about the consequences of standing in the pocket or getting hit when I run with the football,” Vick said. “I think we just have to play with confidence and not try to worry about it and put it in the back of your mind and just let things play out for itself.”
