On behalf of the NFL Players Association, Ricardo and Tammara McDonald “Team McDonald” were participants and guest speakers at the federal HUD agency, Houston Housing Authority’s (HHA), Fatherhood Celebration. The Houston Housing Authority’s mission is to improve lives by providing quality, affordable housing options and promoting education and economic self-sufficiency.
The event took place last Friday, June 15 in the heart of the Cuney Homes public housing apartment’s complex in Houston, TX. It was a celebration that geared up the Houston community for Father’s Day. Team McDonald spoke on the“Importance of Fathers Sustaining the Family & Community.” They also strongly encouraged and promoted fatherhood within public housing families. The celebration of families was outdoors, with a variety of entertainment including: arts & crafts, a resource fair, games, activities, family fun challenges, free haircuts, a DJ and food.
At the end of the day, Team McDonald successfully encouraged fathers to bond with their families and linked them to various valuable community resources.
