Sanders Will Appeal Fine by League for Fake Injury

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders will appeal the $15,000 fine he received after NFL officials ruled he faked an injury during the October 21 game win over Cincinnati. Sanders met with NFL officials last week and says they gave no indication he would be disciplined.

In the last six minutes of the game and the Steelers with only a seven-point lead, Ben Roethlisberger was sacked for a short loss on second down. As the play clock ticked down, Sanders  developed a cramp and had to be taken off the field. The clock stopped while this happened without the Steelers having to take a timeout.

NBC’s Sunday Night Football commentators Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth quickly jumped in with their opinion calling the cramp a phantom injury.

The NFL also fined the Steelers $35,000.
