The Washington Redskins pulled off a desperation win against the Baltimore Ravens in a defensive effort all around. In the first half, Washington decided to make sure their presence was felt on the ground. They tried to make the Ravens stay true to their ability to throw the ball down the field, but Captain Kirk Cousins was not so sharp on this day. He was inaccurate with getting the ball to his receivers on the dime, he struggled with reading the Raven’s defense, and he had a couple of mental errors that could have been avoided. He had DeSean Jackson open a few times in the first half, but over threw him. After a touchdown and a field goal, the Redskins was leading the charge by halftime.
However, the Ravens would not go down without a fight. Ravens QB Joe Flacco was scrambling for his life for four quarters, but in the third quarter, he marched his team down the field to score a touch down and a field goal. Somehow both of these teams struggled to find any type of yards down the field. The Ravens almost caught a break when CJ Mosley took a pick to the house, but fumbled the ball before he reach the end zone, which made it a touch back.
The Ravens stopped the Redskins from gaining any first down yardage with five minutes left in regulation. Flacco attempted to try to win the game by marching his team down the field. With only 45 seconds left, Flacco threw a 30 touchdown pass to his wide receivers, but it was called back, because he did not get his second foot down before he went out bounds. After that touchdown was overturned, Flacco attempted to take his team down the field again, but he could not convert on fourth down.
The Redskins escape and now have 3-3 record.
Despite the effort, many critics felt strongly about the Ravens’ offense.’‘We will let you guys talk about how bad we stink, but we know there is still a lot of football to be played,” linebacker Terrell Suggs said. ”It could be a lot worse, but we know we should be in a better place. We have 11 games left, and we are going to go to work.”
”It is very satisfying for us to beat a good team like this at their place,” quarterback Kirk Cousins said.
Kirk finished 29 of 41 for 260 yards
Joe Flacco finished 30 of 46 for 210 yards
