Odell Beckham Jr. comes through for New York Giants, in a key NFC West win over Dallas

Before tonight’s game, the last team to beat the Dallas Cowboys in the 2016 season was the New York Giants. And that game took place on the opening Sunday (September 11) of this season. The New York Giants used an ODELL BECKHAM JR. third quarter touchdown reception, big-time pass rush support from their defensive line, and a LANDON COLLINS late-fourth quarter fumble recovery to beat the Dallas Cowboys 10-7 at MetLife Stadium.

NFL: MAY 08 National Football League DraftTonight’s win, gave the Giants their first regular season sweep of the Cowboys since the 2011 season. This win also gives the Giants a first place lead in the NFC West. The 2011 season represented the last time the Giants won the NFC West which was also a Super Bowl-winning season for them.

Beckham Jr. (4 catches for 94 yards and 1 score) handled punt returns and of course his receiving duties tonight, in what was a huge divisional win for the Giants who stand at 8-5 overall and 3-1 in the NFC West.

Collins who was marvelous tonight as a cover man, run defender, and occasional pass rusher, recovered a DEZ BRYANT fumble on the DAL 44-yard line and returned the ball to the DAL 38-yard line. That recovery took place on what was the Cowboys’ second to last offensive drive of the game. On Dallas’s (11-2 overall, 3-2 NFC West) last offensive drive of the game they could get past their own 3-yard line.

Giants quarterback ELI MANNING (17 of 28 for 193 yards, 1 touchdown pass and 1 pick) was decent tonight, as he didn’t have to take the Giants offense on his back because he had help from the running game, Beckham Jr. here and there and of course that pass rush. That Giants pass rush put up 3 sacks and constant pressure on Dallas quarterback DAK PRESCOTT. Prescott was just 17 of 37 for 165 yards passing, 1 touchdown pass and 2 picks tonight. eli manning

Prescott’s partner in crime in running back EZEKIEL ELLIOTT, gained 107 yards on 24 carries. But he may have had one of the most quiet 100-yard games in recent memory in NFL annals. No big runs, no game-changing runs, and no scores for the future NFL Offensive Rookie of The Year

Cowboys receiver TERRANCE WILLIAMS (5 catches for 76 yards and 1 score) scored his third touchdown of the year, when he got behind and away from the Giants defense——-nobody on the Giants defense was within even six feet of him——-for a 31-yard scoring pass from Prescott. At the 4:44 mark of the first quarter the Cowboys secured a 7-0 lead.

A dropped pass by Beckham Jr. on 3rd and 8 from the DAL 21-yard line and in front of Dallas cornerback BRANDON CARR, set up a successful 39-yard field goal by kicker ROBBIE GOULD. At the 5:50 mark of the third quarter the Giants cut the Cowboys’ lead to 7-3.

Late in the third quarter, Giants cornerback LEON HALL intercepted a Prescott pass that was thrown deep down the field and into double coverage. Hall took that theft 29 yards to the NYG 39-yard line. Hall’s 27th interception of his nine-year career set up the Giants’ first score of the game. And this score was huge, especially at the point of the game where it took place.

On 2nd 10 from the NYG 39-yard line, Beckham Jr. took a Manning pass 61 yards down the right side where he beat Dallas cornerbacks Carr and ANTHONY BROWN in a foot race to the end zone. At the 1:07 mark of the third quarter the Giants took their first lead of the game at 10-7.
