New England Patriots to Wear Away Jerseys in Super Bowl

Home team wearing away jerseys? That can only mean one thing. The New England Patriots are in the Super Bowl and sticking to their guns with wearing their white jerseys. Who could blame them? They are 3-0 under Bill Belichick when they wear them according to the team’s official Twitter account. The Patriots are on the quest for their sixth ring all during the Tom Brady-Belichick era.

In previous years, the Patriots have gone 2-2 when they wear their blue jerseys. The two losses have come in instant classics against the New York Giants. Football players are superstitious and creatures of habit. If the stitching of the white jerseys just feel a lot better, that could be the driving force for why they chose the white jerseys. Maybe it could be the painful memories of coming up short in the blue jerseys that makes the organization continue to wear the away jerseys. It could be as simple as pulling a number out of a hat and if that number correlates to the away jersey then that could be it.

They wore the white jerseys last season in their epic 28-3 comeback versus the Atlanta Falcons and again in Super Bowl XLIX against the Seattle Seahawks. The other time they wore the white uniforms? If you guessed Super Bowl XXXIX versus the Philadelphia Eagles, then you are correct. You could make a case that they are wearing the white uniforms in an attempt to mess with the psyche of this year’s Eagles team. However, that will be the least of Philly’s worries as they have to come to grips with the task of slowing Tom Brady down.
