Currently, Lapham is the radio play-by-play announcer for the Bengals and host the radio show Bengals Weekly alongside Bengals Head Coach Marvin Lewis. Lapham is known as a very enthusiastic announcer whose emotions throughout the game reflect the Bengal’s performance on the field.
Lapham also spends his time working in the community and is President of the charitable foundation, Charities M.D. The foundation was set up to give scholarships for deserving and financially stressed students looking to pursue a career in healthcare.
“I agreed to become President and run the Charities MD Not for Profit because it concentrates my efforts in areas of my greatest interests, which are helping children and those in need of healthcare.”
Last May, Lapham volunteered to be the Master of Ceremonies for the CTRH 25th Anniversary Charity Fundraiser in Cincinnati, Ohio. CTRH stands for Cincinnati Therapeutic Riding and Horsemanship. When asked about the volunteering to be the MC for the event he said, “The CTRH event is just another one of those wonderful local charity events that allows me to give back for all the blessings bestowed upon me and my family.”
Pro Player Insiders spoke with, Lapham’s son, Dave Lapham Jr. where he talked with us about growing up the son of a NFL player and much more.
PPI: What was it like growing up the son of a NFL player?
DL JR: It was pretty great, you get hang around practices and the players. (You) grow up thinking every guy grows up to be 6’ 4” 250 (lbs.) solid muscle. You get to go to a lot of games and it is a lot of fun.
After sharing his thoughts on growing up the son of an NFL football player, Dave expressed his love for the Philly Cheese Steak that was brought to the Taste of the NFL by the Philadelphia Eagles. He also told us what rookies he enjoyed watching this season. Can you guess who they were?
PPI: This season has been awesome; lots of rookies have been playing well. Who was the player you followed this season?
DL JR: Of the rookies? The Bengals rookies, AJ Green and Andy Dalton have been really good. They went to the Pro Bowl. They have been a lot of fun to watch and the team was a lot better than we were expecting. It was a great season in Cincinnati.
This season the Cincinnati Bengals went 9-7 behind rookie sensations Andy Dalton and AJ Green. They made the playoffs for the first time since 2009. Dalton and Green combined for the most receptions and yards for a rookie quarterback / wide receiver tandem in NFL history.
