Green Bay’s Randall Cobb Ready to Play Ball

LOS ANGELES – For Randall Cobb, the road to Green Bay began in Lexington, Ky. and continues next week in Tempe, Ariz.

That’s where the Packers’ second-round pick will start working out with fellow wide receiver Greg Jennings.

“I’ll push myself and work hard,” Cobb said. “I’ll keep doing what I did to get here.”

On Friday, Cobb joined the other 34 players in his draft class for a pit stop at the NFL Players Rookie Premiere at UCLA.

The Arizona workouts with Jennings, the veteran Packer wideout, will last two weeks.

“I’m pretty sure he’ll give me a little bit of everything, helping me with the playbook,” Cobb said.

All player workouts, individually or with teammates, are unofficial until the lockout ends.

For now, Cobb said, he was enjoying the moment with his fellow members of the NFL’s 2011 Rookie Class.

“That’s something that’s very important to us, being able to talk to the other guys and understand what we’re getting ourselves into.”

After that, Cobb hopes to get to work with the defending Super Bowl champs, and fulfill the ambition of every rookie who ever made it to Green Bay – “Doing a couple of Lambeau Leaps,” Cobb said, smiling.

Guest columnist Gerard Wright caught up with Cobb at the NFL Players celebrity-studded flag football game at UCLA.
